Property, setting and location:
Adjacent to the magnificent, historic Hampton Court Palace with its surrounding gardens and parklands, this jewel of a house lies in a wholly secluded setting. Reached by a leafy private lane, looking out over two acres of lawns, flower beds and orchards, which sweep down to the River Thames, it provides a uniquely magical retreat, while at the same time making a perfect base for exploring London. (Central London is half an hour by train)
It is within easy reach of Windsor Castle, the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew and Wisley, centre of the Royal Horticultural Society. Hampton Court Palace is also home to the famous annual International Flower Show, as well as a musical festival, which boasts performances by leading world famous artists.
Paddock Lodge can be reached from Heathrow Airport by road in around half an hour, subject to normal traffic conditions.
Guest rooms, facilities and the garden:
Two double guest rooms afford fine views of the gardens, the river and the beautifully mellow Tudor Royal Mews, built by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Both bedrooms have private bathrooms (one en suite) with tubs and power showers. The rooms have been designed to the highest standard of modern comfort each with remote control TV, radio, hairdryer and courtesy tray, and feature traditional touches such as Victorian linens and antique furniture.
1. Large queen size double with en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and toilet.
2. Standard double with private bath/shower and toilet.
The large drawing room at your disposal is beautifully proportioned with an imposing 17th century carved doorway: in winter there is always a blazing log fire.
Meals and other facilities:
Breakfast is always included in the basic tariff and is served in the dining room. A very extensive breakfast menu caters for most tastes with a wide choice of fruits and cereals as well as a range of cooked dishes.
The Hampton Court area boasts a variety of excellent restaurants with a choice of different international cuisines, but if you wish to join your hosts for dinner, Sonia will produce a delicious home cooked meal from her fine repertoire of continental and Jewish cuisine, including seasonal vegetables and fruit from the kitchen garden, and served in the candle-lit dining room for 25.00 GBP (£39 US) per head excluding drinks.
