Property, setting and location:
Ship Stores is a 17th Century timber framed, listed building that was originally three cottages. Later an external staircase led to drinking rooms above, which were used by local sheep farmers. It is believed the name 'ship is a corruption of  'sheep'. It has been a village store and adjoining tea room for at least the last century.

In the early 1970's the house was transformed to provide bed and breakfast accommodation and, in 1995, the former outbuildings were converted tocreate additional bedrooms.

Ideally situated for touring the beautiful Suffolk countryside and unspoilt medieval villages, Clare is also, only a short drive from Bury St Edmunds (picturesque ancient city and monastic community), Cambridge (exquisite univeristy city), Newmarket (Races), Lavenham (pretty, largely Tudor town, antiques shops) and Dedham Vale ('Constable country').

While on business why not escape and stay in this beautiful location. Cavendish 3 miles. Lavenham 8 miles. Haverhill 7 miles. Bury St Edmunds 14 miles. Sudbury 8 miles.

Meals and other facilities:
An extensive breakfast menu is included in the basic tariff, offering 5 options from full "Suffolk" cooked breakfast to fresh baked croissants.

Dinner at a very reasonable cost (8.50 GBP approx exclusing wine) is served in-house on request and there are pub restaurants in the village as well.

Vegetarian and other dietary needs can be accommodated with prior notice.

Off road car parking.
