Lavenham - Suffolk

Lavenham PrioryProperty, setting and location:
Lavenham Priory is graded 5 Diamonds with a Gold Award and is winner of the 1999 AA Guest Accommodation Of The Year award.

In the 13th century a refuge for Benedictine monks,  this "Grade 1 Listed" house is one of the most important historic buildings in East Anglia. Later, ownership passed to the Earl's of Oxford, then to wealthy merchants and clerics. Now Lavenham Priory is restored to its Elizabethan appearance, an imposing merchant's home.

Lavenham is one of the finest mediaeval villages in England: the historic Guildhall, the magnificent church of St Peter & St Paul, antique and gift shops, art galleries and restaurants are in walking distance. Country walks commence at the village edge. Forget the car for the day.

Guest rooms, facilities, meals and the garden:
An oak Jacobean staircase leads to the stunning bed chambers, which feature crown posts, Elizabethan wall paintings and oak boarded floors. Each bedroom is furnished in an individual style with four poster, Lit Bateau or Polonaise bed. All four rooms, three with king size double beds and one which offers a choice of twin singles or a queen size double, have en-suite bathrooms, TV, hairdryer and tea & fresh coffee making facilities.

Guests can enjoy all of the principal rooms of the Priory. You may choose to gaze into the inglenook fireplace in the 13th century Great Hall or relax in the family sitting room.

A summer drink can be enjoyed in the courtyard herb garden or you may stroll around the 3 acres of private grounds.
