Quality 16th Century coaching inn that Thomas Hardy called 'The Sow and Acorn' in "Tess of the d'Urbervilles". Hardy is said to have stayed at the Inn when writing "Jude the Obscure".

Set in the centre of the picturesque village of Evershot (where the market scene of "Emma" was filmed) this lovely old stone-built Inn boasts a worthy history. The log fires, beams, oak panelling and stone floors add to the ambience of this fine old building.

Nestling among the rolling hills of West Dorset in 'an area of outstanding natural beauty' and close to the British Heritage Coastline, you have the perfect base for exploring or walking.

Easy to find, being just one mile off A37 and about 150 minutes drive from London.

All nine ensuite bedrooms are individually decorated, giving them individual character. Three four-poster beds. Colour television, telephone with modem, beverage making facilities and full information folders on what to see and do in the area. Hairdryers and iron on request.

3 rooms with standard double bed, bath with shower and toilet en-suite.
3 rooms with twin single beds, two with bath/shower and toilet en-suite, the other with shower and toilet.
3 rooms with Four Poster double bed and bath/shower and toilet en-suite.

An extra single bed is available on request for children under 14 years old.

There is a small terrace with seats to the rear of the inn for your relaxation on a summer's evening.

Local CountrysideMeals and other facilities:
Included in the tariff, the Acorn provides a full cooked English or continental breakfast as preferred.

Only the best fresh local ingredients are used to produce excellent meals, in either the Hardy Bar or the Restaurant. Dinner is approximately 20 GBP per head excluding wine.
Two oak panelled bars offer real ales, lagers and Guinness, as well as a comprehensive wine list. Homemade Elderflower Cordial, Sloe Gin, Damson Vodka.

Picnic lunch can be prepared on request.

The skittle alley is also used for functions and parties.

Vegetarian and other dietary needs can be accommodated with prior notice.

Secure off road car parking at rear of building.
